It’s an easy day on the bike to start the week with. After breakfast, we climb to Teguise, a colonial town and the island’s former capital. We descend to Famara beach in a sandy desert landscape and swim in the ocean. After lunch, the route takes us across El Jable desert, the unique volcanic landscape of Timanfaya and La Geria´s traditional vineyards. After the half-an-hour ferry to Fuerteventura, we start a long day on the saddle, but trade winds will hopefully help us and climbings are smooth. It’s a ride on scenic gravel roads on the north shore. After lunch in the old colonial town of Betancuria, we ride in a rocky desert landscape and reach the hotel next to the sandy beach of La Pared.

A 2-hour ferry and we are on the third island: Gran Canaria. A quick visit to the old colonial streets of Las Palmas and we climb to the highest peak of the island, Pico de las Nieves at 2000m. As we gain altitude the arid landscape turns into a lush pine wood, once above the clouds the view opens up to the magnificent “sacred mountains” of Gran Canaria, declared UNESCO world heritage. Our hotel is right there!

Our ride today starts descending the endless switchbacks of Tirma in the Tamadaba pine forest, to reach the harbour by midday and take the 2-hour ferry to Tenerife. Soon we are back in the mountains in Anaga’s rugged peaks on beautiful switchbacks. A landscape made of cactus quickly turns into a lush green laurel forest usually shrouded in mist that well deserves the name of “enchanted forest”. We finally reach our hotel in La Laguna, a 15th-century colonial town declared UNESCO world heritage

It’s a long climb to Mount Teide, a massive volcano rising at 3700 meters above the ocean. The climb mainly goes on hard-packed double tracks in the pine forest to reach the moon-like volcanic landscape of Cañadas above 2000 meters, another UNESCO World Heritage site. The route quickly descends on fast gravel roads to the hotel. It’s a long day, but we can take some shortcuts in the afternoon.
Buffet breakfast at the Hotel
We could go for a short morning ride, stay at the pool or stroll around town. Time to pack our bikes and say goodbye. We will arrange your transfer to Tenerife South Airport, a 20-minute drive from the hotel.

Daniela likes the most adventurous and challenging part of cycling, she won extreme ultra-cycling races and explored remote countries on her bike. She likes to ride far away from her comfort zone, camp out in pristine nature and get in touch with local communities, always with an easy-going attitude and open-minded approach.
Like everybody else, Matteo learned to ride a bike as a kid, and never quit. After many years and countless miles, he is still amazed by the gyroscopic balance given by the spinning wheels, the instant pleasure of moving forward pushing on the pedals, the endless freedom of climbing mountains and crossing landscapes.
