It’s a long climb to Mount Teide, a massive volcano rising at 3700 meters above the ocean. The climb mainly goes on hard-packed double tracks in the pine forest to reach the moon-like volcanic landscape of Cañadas above 2000 meters, another UNESCO World Heritage site. The route quickly descends on fast gravel roads to the hotel. It’s a long day, but we can take some shortcuts in the afternoon.
